END HUNGER Now!

40th Annual CROP Hunger Walk
Sunday, May 7, 2023

This year we dedicate our 40th annual CROP Hunger Walk  to two hereos
Sylvia Menninga and Douglas J Wyman

Both were champions of the walk and served for many years. You can learn more about each of them by clicking on the button with their name.

They had a dedication of purpose in Ending Hunger One Step At A Time. We are forever grateful for their being part of our effort to help those in need.

Our MISSION

We are one of over 600 CROP Hunger Walks held across the United States that raise money and awareness for those in need.

In 2021 we were the #5 Walk in the U.S.
In 2021 and 2022 we modified our walk to a virtual walk and we will again in 2023.
See our blogs for more information
People from organizations in Oak Park, River Forest, Forest Park, Chicago, Melrose Park and Maywood get together to participate. We ask our families, friends and co-workers to support our efforts to raise money for national and international relief and development efforts by CWS Global and ten local agencies that help hungry people in our communities.
See the 2022 CWS Annual Report.

We all know the work CWS does:

and also received
Charity Navigator's Four-Star Rating!

They continue to inspire us.

Rally

After a two year hiatus our CROP Walk (Hunger Walkathon West) will again begin with a rally.

WHAT IS THE SAME

·       Pilgrim Congregational Churh is the location.

·       Fellowship with folks from other faith communities and organizations.

·       Inspiration.

·       Placing what we are doing in a faith context.

·       Joyful, upbeat music.

WHAT IS DIFFERENT

·       It will begin at 1:30 pm.

·       It will be primarily inspirational and motivational.  We’ll honor two of our recently deceased leaders, Doug Wyman and Sylvia Menninga.

·       It will be voluntary.  Attendance at the rally is not required.

·       It will be simple and half an hour long without many of the "extras" seen in past years.

·       There will be no pre-planned route after the rally. Each team is free to design where and how long to walk.

from 2021

While it was a Virtual Walk we did encourage people to find their own way to walk, locally and in small groups.

Our Facebook Page shows the photos from these walks.
